Ian graduated with a BSc in Geology from Cardiff University in 1980. After working for Kestrel Data, a geological storage company, he joined Elf (UK) in 1983 where he was involved in various UK sector North Sea projects based in its London office.
During the period from 1988 to 1990, Ian worked as an operations geologist, in a consultancy capacity, on a number of BP and Fina operated wells in the UK-sector of the North Sea and onshore England.
In 1990, Ian moved to Singapore where, as Director, he set up and managed IEDS’ Far East and Australasian operations. He initiated and was involved in a number of technical studies throughout the region, worked closely with various national oil companies and grew the global scouting business. During this time he helped companies establish their Asian portfolios. Following the IHS Energy purchase of IEDS in 1998, and subsequent merge with Petroconsultants, Ian became Vice President of the global upstream teams.
Whilst in Singapore, Ian was active with the Southeast Asian Petroleum Society (SEAPEX) holding a number of positions on the committee. As recognition for his services to the Southeast Asia petroleum industry he was awarded Honorary Life Membership to the society in 1999.
In 2002, Ian moved to Houston with IHS Energy. His role expanded to manage the global business intelligence and database operations of the rapidly expanding company.
Ian has established himself as a global expert of upstream activities and has been a regular speaker at industry conferences. He has recently completed, through the Robert Gordon University in Scotland, a post graduate qualification in Oil and Gas Law.
Ian joined Moyes & Co in March 2008 as Managing Director based. in the Houston office. |
